Pardon the poor photo quality :c I often forget to take pictures of my works, but this time I took a quick shot, resized, and here I am uploading it.
I decided to make and sell a wearable item for this year's Cos & Effect, a costume con. That item will be a very decorative accessory to wear over the face, like medical masks that people wear who don't want to spread or to catch sickness. I think wearing a medical mask is a wonderful and considerate measure to take if someone is sick, but it is hardly practiced as a common thing to do in Western society because of the slight negative connotations in using the masks.
Now, what I made is not fit to function as actual medical masks - they won't prevent any sickness, these are made from cotton fabric and the material isn't fine enough to prevent bacterial spread or whatever. They are just accessories. I think it's possible to wear them over regular medical masks so you look a little dressier, but I can imagine how warm one will feel after a while... and that it'll be tricky to breathe over time. I hope people will like to wear them! c:
Each of these masks have a variation in patterns, and I tried to iron them fine so the lines and patterns aren't too uneven (the white/pink crowns one is a toughy). They will have thin elastic cording through the top and bottom edges. From left to right, top to bottom, I have:
- teal/pink plaid with black cording
- black/gray with keys, clocks and hearts with black cording
- white/pink crowns with white cording
- dark blue royal lions with black cording
- checkered with white cording
- tight pink plaid with white cording
I wish I had time to make eye patches with the leftover fabric pieces and elastic cordings... Maybe in the future.
Sorry these are not available for commission.
